Anthony Schooling was an close friend of James. He and his wife at the time Nalini Nair, Devan Nair’s sister were the witnesses at the marriage of James and Mavis. He was a regular visitor to the Changi Detention Camp and is the sources of the photographs from that time.
Tony worked in Radio Malaya and later the BBC. He told James that his career at the BBC could not progress because of his past associations with him and other figures from the left.
